What Kind of Love?

Image
I’ve noticed that love is a reoccurring theme on this blog. It’s not that I couldn’t think of anything else to share, but it’s something that has been dealing with my heart recently. I keep being reminded of His unfailing love towards me and I can’t help but feel overwhelmed.  I read a quote recently that stirred my heart. “There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not deeper still.” What kind of love is that? I can’t even comprehend this kind of love. A love that is deeper than my deepest, darkest, most dreadful sin/failure/mess/PIT? WHAT?! It’s hard to grasp, right? Think about how we fall short, stumble, and fail sometimes; God’s love goes beyond that. Nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:38-39). So no matter what kind of mess you are in, no matter how badly you’ve fallen, no matter how far you’ve gone away from God…NOTHING can separate you from the love of God! That doesn’t give us the excuse to commit every sin in the book and see whether God still

Do you pray about it, as much as you talk about it?

Do you pray about it, as much as you talk about it?   I saw this sign the other day on the internet and it got me thinking… It’s actually crazy how we can talk about some of our issues, struggles or dislikes for hours. Many times we feel like calling someone or just hanging out with someone close and we just want to share out heart out. Once we share, we feel a momentary relief as well. Our friends, parents or siblings take time out of their schedule to listen to our rants and provide insight, advice, etc. and that makes us happy and comforted. We realize how much we need each other. The more trust we build, the more we share; the more we share the more we care for one another; and the more we care for one another the more we can endure. So I think it’s important to talk about stuff and I believe it will only help you, it relieves stress and anxiety… but the question is “Do you pray about it, as much as you talk about it?” Sometimes we have a lot of plans. Plans for the

"Oh How I love Jesus, Because He First Loved Me.”

“Oh, how I love Jesus…” Those are probably some of the most over sung words in all of Christendom, yet every time I sing those words, I find myself asking the same question over and over and over again; Do I really love Jesus? It’s far too easy to sing those words at the top of our lungs, hands raised, eyes lifted to the skies without really meaning a single word that we sing. These words can either be a display of your complete surrender to Jesus, or they can label you as the biggest hypocrite around. When we really love someone, we try our absolute best not to hurt them. We keep out words, our deeds, our action in check, we make sure we do nothing that would break the heart of the person you’ve given your heart to. Singing these words, you’re basically saying, “Jesus I love you SO much” , but how can we say that when we’ve repeatedly put aside how Jesus would feel about something, and chose ourselves over Him. We intentionally hurt Him, but then we say how much we love Him. Soun

Keep Calm......Pray On.

Written By: Joanna John " Keep Calm and Carry on,” we’ve all read the poster or at least heard the phrase before. This was a poster made by the British government 1939 in preparation for the Second World War. This was created to raise the morale and calm the public as people were frenzied due to the threat of air attacks in that era. The poster was made to relieve the stress of the public and have them understand that the government had the situation under control. Life comes with many little surprises; some happy, some sad, some expected and some unexpected. Regardless, with these little surprises comes a lot of anxiety tied to it. The very first reaction we have when a circumstance or a ‘surprise’ is a not favorable to us, we worry. Over the years we have all developed ways in which we could handle these situations. Some people decide they would like to keep the issue to themselves and not express their innermost concerns whereas others simply stress and panic. But what

Intimacy with God: Whats the Beginning?

Image
Intimacy with God: What’s the beginning? We have been reading on the love that transforms our life. This love speaks of a Savior, who was God in the form of man, who came to earth to die for our sins. This great privilege was not the result of us meeting any of the conditions of our believing faith. “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8). Now that we have received reconciliation for our sins, can we go on living as we please? He definitely loved us unconditionally but this love doesn’t confirm our admission into Heaven. By His unconditional love, we were predestined and chosen as heirs to the Heavenly kingdom but, if we wander away from Christ, we have lost the race. The crown of life is promised only to those who have been faithful unto death (Rev. 2:20). We can make an analogy here between the parable of the Good Samaritan (Christ) and the inn-keeper (us). The Good Samaritan bandaged the wounds of the beaten man but then he entrusts the inn
