Stay Humble!

“Go to the foot of the Cross this day, His precious Blood washes sin away. We each need to think more of His Cross, Without our Saviour, we’re total loss.” - Connie Kramer      Imagine having everything you’ve ever wanted in life. You’ve got a great family, a great job you enjoy, wealth and wonderful friends who always encourage you. Now imagine all of those things being stripped away from you. A sense of uneasiness rushes over us when we think of how uncertain our life on earth is. Uncertainty sure is a scary thing. The Bible describes human lives as futile and short in Psalms 89.      In this short life that God has granted us he asks us to stay humble. The Bible defines humility as being lowly or meek in spirit. We are to remind ourselves that we come second. Constantly riding ourselves of our ambitions and our thoughts but rather remembering that we are merely vessels placed on this planet to live for God. Humility requires that we...

Blessed are the Peacemakers

We live in a world of conflict. Nations war against nations, violence plagues our cities, and people argue over politics  and race. Even among our friends and family, we often face situations of disagreement and argument. How do we navigate these troubled waters? Let’s remember that God’s kingdom is a kingdom of peace. “In the last days… [God] will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore” (Isaiah 2:2-4). We are all looking forward to eternity in God’s peaceful kingdom.  But meanwhile, we live in world of conflict. In this world, we are called to spread the message of peace. Paul compares us to soldiers, whose feet are prepared by wearing the proper shoes.  We are  ready to face the troubling situations of this world because we wear the “gospel of peace”  as our foo...

Call to Authenticity

We live in a day and age in which concealing things that are not visually appealing, and hiding what we truly believe are highly promoted. These days photoshop is used so frivolously just to make your smile brighter or skin lighter or maybe make you a size smaller. All that effort is done so that you can get more likes on your Facebook page or double tap on your Instagram. The core reason is that we all want to be liked. No one likes to be a sore thumb, we all want to blend in. I think we all manage to do a good job with it as well. We do it so well and so often that it has become part of who we are, so much so that we’ve become oblivious to it.We have categorized our lives, we know how to dress, talk and present ourselves according to place and time. The real question is: is Christ present in all the aspects of our life? "Christ is either Lord over all or he is not Lord at all" - Hudson Taylor We often try so hard to fit in, so much so that we end up living our liv...

Paths That Are Straight

Image
Every person has their own responsibilities that have to be done. Whether it be paying the bills, grades, work, or all of those three combined, they all require our hard work and attention. There is nothing wrong with that! What is  wrong with that on the other hand is how much of ourselves we give to doing these things. How about this, lets just take a moment to examine ourselves:    - How much time do you spend alone with God?    - How much time do you spend taking care of your responsibilities?        Now that you've thought about such things, do you have a clear answer? I know I sure do, and its not pretty. I find myself spending more time doing what I have to do in order to reap what is on this earth more than I spend time doing what I should do in order to reap a harvest in the Kingdom. Like I said before, taking care of your responsibilities and working hard is not bad at all. Colossians 3:23 says 'Whatev...

I AM 100% ON DUTY When an European Airline was initially launched, an educated Christian gentleman was travelling in the first class section .An air hostess approached him with a complimentary drink, this was an alcoholic drink so that man politely refused. The air hostess returned but this time bought the drink on a platter, designed to appeal and impress however Christian man again politely refused, explaining he doesn’t drink alcohol. The air hostess was concerned and informed the manager. The manager approached the man with another platter, now designed with flowers; he questioned “is there something wrong with our service? Please enjoy the drink, it is complimentary offer”. The man replied “I am a Christian and I do not drink alcohol “The manager still insisted that man take the drink. Then, the Christian propose that the manager should give the drink to the pilot first. The manger stated “how can the pilot drink alcohol, he is on duty!?And if he drinks there are all chan...

Sometimes my plan fail, but God always gives me better options.

There are many times in my life when things went in a completely opposite way than I had thought or planned.  I am an impatient person, so I like things to be done my way and in my own time. I've found that in each and every one of those situations, God had a completely different plan.  Many times, we plan out things with our own knowledge, and then we blame God when things start going wrong.  We try to teach God by telling him how things should work out. We become upset, and frustrated at God. We then begin to fear and wonder why things didn't work the way we planned and prayed. Maybe it’s our sins?  Or did God even hear our prayer? We often say we trust in Him, but if we trust God the way we say we do, we must trust that God knows what is best for us in every situation.  If we put our trust in Him He will direct us in the way that is best for us, even if we don’t think that it’s the best for us in that mom...

What Kind of Love?

Image
I’ve noticed that love is a reoccurring theme on this blog. It’s not that I couldn’t think of anything else to share, but it’s something that has been dealing with my heart recently. I keep being reminded of His unfailing love towards me and I can’t help but feel overwhelmed.  I read a quote recently that stirred my heart. “There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not deeper still.” What kind of love is that? I can’t even comprehend this kind of love. A love that is deeper than my deepest, darkest, most dreadful sin/failure/mess/PIT? WHAT?! It’s hard to grasp, right? Think about how we fall short, stumble, and fail sometimes; God’s love goes beyond that. Nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:38-39). So no matter what kind of mess you are in, no matter how badly you’ve fallen, no matter how far you’ve gone away from God…NOTHING can separate you from the love of God! That doesn’t give us the excuse to commit every sin in the book and see whether God s...
