Call to Authenticity

We live in a day and age in which concealing things that are not visually appealing, and hiding what we truly believe are highly promoted. These days photoshop is used so frivolously just to make your smile brighter or skin lighter or maybe make you a size smaller. All that effort is done so that you can get more likes on your Facebook page or double tap on your Instagram. The core reason is that we all want to be liked. No one likes to be a sore thumb, we all want to blend in. I think we all manage to do a good job with it as well. We do it so well and so often that it has become part of who we are, so much so that we’ve become oblivious to it.We have categorized our lives, we know how to dress, talk and present ourselves according to place and time. The real question is: is Christ present in all the aspects of our life? "Christ is either Lord over all or he is not Lord at all" - Hudson Taylor We often try so hard to fit in, so much so that we end up living our liv...

Paths That Are Straight

Image
Every person has their own responsibilities that have to be done. Whether it be paying the bills, grades, work, or all of those three combined, they all require our hard work and attention. There is nothing wrong with that! What is  wrong with that on the other hand is how much of ourselves we give to doing these things. How about this, lets just take a moment to examine ourselves:    - How much time do you spend alone with God?    - How much time do you spend taking care of your responsibilities?        Now that you've thought about such things, do you have a clear answer? I know I sure do, and its not pretty. I find myself spending more time doing what I have to do in order to reap what is on this earth more than I spend time doing what I should do in order to reap a harvest in the Kingdom. Like I said before, taking care of your responsibilities and working hard is not bad at all. Colossians 3:23 says 'Whatev...

I AM 100% ON DUTY When an European Airline was initially launched, an educated Christian gentleman was travelling in the first class section .An air hostess approached him with a complimentary drink, this was an alcoholic drink so that man politely refused. The air hostess returned but this time bought the drink on a platter, designed to appeal and impress however Christian man again politely refused, explaining he doesn’t drink alcohol. The air hostess was concerned and informed the manager. The manager approached the man with another platter, now designed with flowers; he questioned “is there something wrong with our service? Please enjoy the drink, it is complimentary offer”. The man replied “I am a Christian and I do not drink alcohol “The manager still insisted that man take the drink. Then, the Christian propose that the manager should give the drink to the pilot first. The manger stated “how can the pilot drink alcohol, he is on duty!?And if he drinks there are all chan...

Sometimes my plan fail, but God always gives me better options.

There are many times in my life when things went in a completely opposite way than I had thought or planned.  I am an impatient person, so I like things to be done my way and in my own time. I've found that in each and every one of those situations, God had a completely different plan.  Many times, we plan out things with our own knowledge, and then we blame God when things start going wrong.  We try to teach God by telling him how things should work out. We become upset, and frustrated at God. We then begin to fear and wonder why things didn't work the way we planned and prayed. Maybe it’s our sins?  Or did God even hear our prayer? We often say we trust in Him, but if we trust God the way we say we do, we must trust that God knows what is best for us in every situation.  If we put our trust in Him He will direct us in the way that is best for us, even if we don’t think that it’s the best for us in that mom...

What Kind of Love?

Image
I’ve noticed that love is a reoccurring theme on this blog. It’s not that I couldn’t think of anything else to share, but it’s something that has been dealing with my heart recently. I keep being reminded of His unfailing love towards me and I can’t help but feel overwhelmed.  I read a quote recently that stirred my heart. “There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not deeper still.” What kind of love is that? I can’t even comprehend this kind of love. A love that is deeper than my deepest, darkest, most dreadful sin/failure/mess/PIT? WHAT?! It’s hard to grasp, right? Think about how we fall short, stumble, and fail sometimes; God’s love goes beyond that. Nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:38-39). So no matter what kind of mess you are in, no matter how badly you’ve fallen, no matter how far you’ve gone away from God…NOTHING can separate you from the love of God! That doesn’t give us the excuse to commit every sin in the book and see whether God s...

Do you pray about it, as much as you talk about it?

Image
Do you pray about it, as much as you talk about it?   I saw this sign the other day on the internet and it got me thinking… It’s actually crazy how we can talk about some of our issues, struggles or dislikes for hours. Many times we feel like calling someone or just hanging out with someone close and we just want to share out heart out. Once we share, we feel a momentary relief as well. Our friends, parents or siblings take time out of their schedule to listen to our rants and provide insight, advice, etc. and that makes us happy and comforted. We realize how much we need each other. The more trust we build, the more we share; the more we share the more we care for one another; and the more we care for one another the more we can endure. So I think it’s important to talk about stuff and I believe it will only help you, it relieves stress and anxiety… but the question is “Do you pray about it, as much as you talk about it?” Sometimes we have a lot of plans. Plans for ...

"Oh How I love Jesus, Because He First Loved Me.”

Image
“Oh, how I love Jesus…” Those are probably some of the most over sung words in all of Christendom, yet every time I sing those words, I find myself asking the same question over and over and over again; Do I really love Jesus? It’s far too easy to sing those words at the top of our lungs, hands raised, eyes lifted to the skies without really meaning a single word that we sing. These words can either be a display of your complete surrender to Jesus, or they can label you as the biggest hypocrite around. When we really love someone, we try our absolute best not to hurt them. We keep out words, our deeds, our action in check, we make sure we do nothing that would break the heart of the person you’ve given your heart to. Singing these words, you’re basically saying, “Jesus I love you SO much” , but how can we say that when we’ve repeatedly put aside how Jesus would feel about something, and chose ourselves over Him. We intentionally hurt Him, but then we say how much we love Him. Soun...
